5 Reasons We Use Soy Wax For Our Candles

Updated: Jul 13, 2023

Let's start by explaining the process of how soy wax made...

Once the soy beans are harvested, they are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled and then rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process turns some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This dramatically changes the melting point of the oil so it is solid at room temperature.

So now that you know where soy wax comes from and how its made, lets get to why we decided to go with soy wax for our candles..

1- It Is Non-Toxic

As previously discussed, soy wax is made from vegetable oil, so it provides a clean burn without releasing known carcinogens. Unlike paraffin wax, a by-product of refining crude oil, emits toxic chemicals into the air while burning. These toxins can have a huge negative reaction for people with asthma and allergies and possibly cause lung cancer.

2- Soy Wax is a Renewable Source

Soybean wax is renewable and environmentally friendly. This means its also biodegradable! Soy wax is all natural and contains nothing artificial. Definitely a better alternative than paraffin wax.

3- Provides Clean Burning

Because Soy wax candles emit significantly less smoke than paraffin candles, they burn more cleanly! Anyone sensitive to candle smoke will find soy wax much easier to use and breathe clean, safe air. Additionally, there is less chance that smoke may harm any neighboring furniture, walls or ceilings. If your Green Earth candle starts producing black smoke, it is probably because the wick needs to be trimmed and less likely to do with its ingredients.

4- Soy Wax has a Strong Scent Throw

While burning a candle, a wax pool forms around the wick due to the soy wax's higher melting point. As a result, the oils can more easily and evenly vaporize, releasing more aroma into the room. Soy wax has an excellent fragrance throw that does not need chemical amplifiers.

5- Cost Effective

Soy wax Candles can be reused, proving to be a cost effective candle. One can melt and pour used wax to remake a candle! Because soy wax has a higher melting point, soy candles burn evenly and slowly so you can enjoy your candle longer!

We use high quality soy wax, fragrance oils and wicks to provide you with the most aromatic candles. The reusable jars to reduce waste and promote recycling.
